Since ancient Egypt people have been using chemical resurfacing to rejuvenate the skin. Modern medicine has advanced so much in the last twenty years and continues to do so. Chemical skin peels have benefited from this. Our skin sheds millions of skin cells a day, but as we get older this natural exfoliation slows down, so instead of these cells falling off our skin, they build up & leave skin dull looking. Chemical peels create an even and controlled shedding of built up or damaged skin cells. The procedures are used all over the world to treat skin problems such as wrinkles and lines, acne scars, hyper-pigmentation, and sun damage. Peels are a great alternative to laser therapy, but can also only be carried out by a qualified professional. Chemical peels are usually described according to how deep they work on the skin.
- SUPERFICIAL PEELS Remove the outer layer of the skin or the epidermal layers.
- SUPERFICIAL TO MEDIUM PEELS Remove the skin slightly deeper than epidermal layer.
- MEDIUM-DEPTH PEELS Remove both the epidermal layers and upper dermal layers. This refers to how deep into your skin the ingredients penetrate. Whilst light peels are suitable for treating fine lines or skin discolouration, deeper peels are necessary if you are hoping to treat acne scars or wrinkles. *Medium peel only available with PRETREATMENT.
